Who/what is Brand South Africa?

The International Marketing Council of South Africa (IMC) was established in 2000 in order to create a positive and compelling brand image for South Africa.

At the time, there were many messages entering the international arena. These messages were as varied as their sources, and did little for creating a positive and united image of the country.

The IMC's main objective is the marketing of South Africa through the Brand South Africa campaign.

While there are many benefits to having a consolidated brand image, they all come down to one: a consistent Brand South Africa image will create a strategic advantage for the country in an increasingly competitive marketplace.

What is SAinfo?

SouthAfrica.info is the online gateway to South Africa, published for the International Marketing Council of South Africa (IMC) as part of its Brand South Africa campaign.

The purpose of the gateway is to:

  • Provide an overview of the country's myriad attractions and opportunities, particularly for investors, tourists, foreign diplomats and researchers.
  • Sort and package South African websites into a succinct directory of the most useful information sources for foreigners, citizens and South Africans living abroad.
  • Provide a consumer-friendly guide to sources of public information across the national spectrum - from work permits to investor guidelines, golf courses to taxation, the education system to whale watching.
